Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

1 (frozen) banana

2 tbsp peanut butter (fresh ground with no sugar added)

1 tbsp 100% cocoa powder (no sugars added)

1/2 cup fruit of your choice: watermelon, melon, etc. (frozen)

1 cup water or milk or milk alternative

1 scoop (25g) of protein powder (no sugar added)

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, combine all the ingredients and mix until it is smooth. I like to use frozen fruit and bananas so the smoothie turns out thicker and colder.
  2. Pour into a glass and drink it.

Milk: you can use milk, water, or your preferred milk alternative. If you want a thicker consistency, start with a little less and add more as needed. If you like thinner smoothies, you can add more.

Protein: I like to use 100% grass-fed whey protein made by Raw Organic Whey because it has no added ingredients like sugar, but you can use your preferred protein source.

Peanut Butter: I recommend using a peanut butter with no sugar added.

Post-Workout Benefits:

Having a peanut butter protein smoothie after a workout offers several benefits:

  1. Muscle Recovery: Protein is essential for muscle repair and growth. Grass-fed whey protein, in particular, is a high-quality protein source that provides the necessary amino acids needed for muscle recovery post-workout.
  2. Carbohydrate Replenishment: The banana and sweet fruit in the smoothie provide carbohydrates, which help replenish glycogen stores that are depleted during exercise. This aids in restoring energy levels.
  3. Hydration: Water, milk, or milk alternatives contribute to rehydration, especially if you’ve sweat a lot during your workout.
  4. Nutrient Intake: Apart from protein and carbohydrates, this smoothie provides vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants from ingredients like banana, cocoa powder, and your chosen fruit, supporting overall health and immune function.

This Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie serves as an excellent post-workout drink, aiding in muscle recovery, replenishing energy stores, and providing essential nutrients to support overall well-being!
